Tuvalu

The Tuvalu Business Centre after setting up a DME site with Dr Etherington in 1998 ordered a further seven units, one for each island. Chris travelled to Tuvalu in 2001 to use the initial site at the business centre for training a team of workers that would then travel to the outer islands to build driers and install the new presses.

The Tuvalu Government, which funded the project, placed a high priority on the technology and deemed it extremely suitable for the outer islands knowing that it would help stem the flow of young people leaving the islands to look for work in the capital.

For Kokonut Pacific, taking Direct Micro Expelling to Tuvalu was highly significant to since it was here that a British scientist first observed this method for making virgin coconut oil in 1978.
